Windows 8.1 August update (KB2975719)

Microsoft has been throwing updates to its operating system Windows more frequent than previous years. As Microsoft is working to provide better user experience. This month’s update of Windows 8.1 comes with something big. Something which some Windows 8 users might find surprising. Recent update is more than just bug fixes. As a part of monthly update the august update brings something more. Update is available for both x64-based and x86-based systems.

What makes august update different is new and updated features along with bug fixes i.e. making better performance and reliability. Developers at Microsoft has been working day and night since 2012 for improving and friendlier Windows 8 for the users.

Some of the key features in update are “Touchpad improvements” Which brings new settings prompting improved functionalities for the touchpad enabled devices. Some developer tools like login prompts for SharePoint online will be less frequent and by checking the “keep me signed in” box you will remain logged in. But this is not all below are the key update to the August 12th Tuesday update.

Precision Touch-pad improvements

Touch pad improvement settings bring new settings and improved functionalities for touchpad enabled devices. Three new settings including, when mouse is connected leave touchpad enabled, right click allowed on touchpad and double-tap and drag have been added.

Miracast Receive

For developing windows 32 bit applications that run on all x86-based or x64-based version of windows 8.1 it exposes a set of Wi-Fi direct APIs for independent hardware vendors (IHV) or OEM. Enabling the computer as a Miracast receiver.

Reduced Login Prompts for SharePoint online

Improvements for developer tools like login prompts for SharePoint online will be less frequent and by checking the “keep me signed in” box you will remain logged in.

Other than these some minor tweaks are included along with fixes. Bug fixes are the basic target of the update.
