How to Use Android Phone as Wireless Mic for PC and Mac

There is no doubt in the fact that most computers and laptops come with a very average quality built-in microphones which will damage the quality of your voice. If you want to use a good quality microphone while doing any voice related task on your laptop or PC, you can use your Android smartphone. You can easily connect the built-in microphone of your smartphone with your PC with the help of Bluetooth, WiFi or USB so there is no point of spending extra money to buy an extra microphone. Following are some steps to use your Android smartphone as wireless microphone from PC.

Use Android Phone as Wireless Mic for PC

You will have to start by downloading a special app from your Google App store. If you browse Google Play store, you will notice that there are many different apps for this purpose so you can download few and try which one suit you best. We are going to use WO Mic app today. We are choosing this app because it is easiest to install and has the minimum options to use. Best thing about this WO Mic app is that it can be used both on Mac and PC.

WiFi Mic Connection

If you want a wireless connection between your smartphone and PC, you need to follow the steps given below:

According to your operating system you need to install WO Mic client package. Download WO Mic client setup program and install it either for Mac OS X or Windows operating system.

Steps on phone

  • In order to start using Android phone as wireless mic from PC, simply open the WO Mic app on your Android device. Go to Settings and choose Transport and from options select WiFi.

  • Now go back and hit the Start button and you will notice and IP address, you need to type this IP address in the application that you installed on your PC or Mac. So, lets do this on your computer.

Steps on Computer

  • Run WO Mic Client package that you just install on your PC or Mac. Click Connection menu and choose Connect option.

  • Select WiFi option from dialog box and type the IP address that you see on your Android device. Once done hit the OK button and your Android phone is connected with PC as a Mic.

Skype settings: To choose Android phone as Mic device you need to modify Skype audio settings and choose Microphone (WO Mic Device) as a microphone as shown below.

You can choose WO Mic as audio input device in other application as well. Whenever you want to use phone as Mic, go the main page of the app and click on the start button. You will also have to copy the IP address which you can see above the microphone icon.

In order to copy IP address, open the WO Mic client on your computer and you will see a dialogue box with some options. Enter IP address and then click on connect and you are ready to work with that.

USB Connection:
If you want to connect with the help of USB all you need to do is connect or plug in your phone with the laptop or computer and choose transport settings as USB.
