Apple announced their new iOS at WWDC 2011 and added about 200 new features in iOS 5 and coming this Fall. Here we write some of the major new features available in iOS 5 for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
iOS 5 New Features
Notification Center
This will keep track of all notifications at one place, like missed calls, messages, stocks, weather, etc.
Notifications will displayed on the lock-screen, and you can swipe the icon from left to right (as you do to unlock the screen) to view it.
If you are inside any, swipe down from top of the screen to view all notifications. Tap on any notification will take you directly to that application.
iMessages
Now you can send text, photos, videos, contacts and locations to any iOS 5 device connected over Wi-Fi or 3G.
Reminders
In this new iOS 5 app, you can manage your daily life work smartly by creating location-aware to-do lists.
It syncs with iCal, Outlook and iCloud across all iOS devices, changes you made will update automatically on all devices.
System wide Twitter integration, now you can tweet directly from Safari, Photos, Camera, YouTube, Maps and other apps
Camera
Camera button added on the lock screen
Now inside camera app you can take pictures with the volume-up button
Pinch to zoom, grid lines to compose a good shot and even lock focus and exposure as well
Photos
Enhance photos, remove red-eye, crop and rotate. All this is inside Photos app.
Safari
Reader inside Safari remove all the clutter and show you the content you want.
Using reader you can save articles to read it later.
Using tabs on iPad, you can move between pages quickly
Rich text editing, format you text using Bold, Italic or Underline fonts. Text indentation, Flag important messages and Search in the body of messages
Newsstand
Newsstand handle all magazine and newspaper subscriptions at one place and lets you subscribe for more easily.
Wi-Fi Sync
Now you don’t have to plug-in your device with computer to take backup or sync with iTunes.
PC Free
Now you can setup your iDevice without having a computer. Download and update iOS directly on your device.
Split Keyboard
Split keyboard on iPad by Swiping down with four fingers, make easier to hold and type.
AirPlay Mirroring
Using AirPlay mirroring you can share everything you do on iPad 2, right on your big screen TV, wirelessly. You can view Pictures, Videos, play Games, etc.
