How to Check Disk Space Usage by Apps in Window 8.1

Windows 8.1 has already become quite the favorite of many people. The large application database is making the users to install them which in turn mean that you will run of out room very quickly, right? If you’re using a Windows based tablet then too many apps will take up your space in no time. Well, there is a simple and easy way to find out how much space an application is taking up.

Before we start up with the steps, in the procedure we have assumed that you will be doing this on you PC or laptop that is why we use the word click, if you are on a touch-based device you just need to touch or swipe accordingly. So let’s move forward.

As a first step, press the Windows and C key to open up the charms bar (swipe inward from right side of the screen to view charm bar on touch screen devices) which comes on the right hand side of the screen. It will not matter whether you are on the start screen or the Desktop or somewhere else.

On the bar, click on the “Change PC Settings”.

When PC Settings open up click on “Search and Apps”.

When this pane pops up on the left side, you will see “App sizes” in the list. Click on it.

There will be a progress bar displayed as Windows determines the size of the installed apps. A message will also tell you how much space is remaining.

Once Windows is done with the progress bar, a list will appear consisting of all the apps, and on the side of each app the size occupied by it will be shown. You can uninstall all the apps which you think are taking up a lot of space and are not so useful to make some room.
