How to Stop Notifications from Apps on Android Phone

When you have installed dozens of Free apps and games on your Android phone, you definitely will get annoying notifications in shape of Ads or messages that you don’t want to see and usually apps don’t have built-int settings for disable notifications. I have installed different games like Clash of Clans, Hay Day, Tapped Out, Tap the frog and some Gameloft games that always sent notifications in the Android notification bar like “Your frog was missing you…”, “Come play in the pond…”. So if you have the same situation here is the solution to stop notifications from apps and games on Android phone.

Stop Notifications from Apps on Android

If installed apps or game don’t have built-in option to stop notifications then you can use this method to stop notifications.

Open notification area on Android, Swipe-down from top of the screen to view Android notifications.

On the App info screen tap and hold on the app notification for which to no longer want to see notifications and you will see an menu pop-up with App info option, tap this option.

This will show you all the details of this app and here you can un-check the “Show notifications” check box to stop showing notifications. There are few more option like you can stop app using Force stop button, uninstall, clear data, clear cache and some other storage and permission related information.

Now you successfully stop notifications from app, do the same steps for other apps like I am doing for Apps and different games like Clash of Clans, Hay Day, Tapped Out, Candy Crush, Farmville, Angry Birds Rio and more.

Notifications that you can’t stop

There are some system notification that you can’t stop using this method. Notifications displayed by Android System like “WiFi Connected”, “Data Disabled” and more. You will notice “Show notification” option is disabled when you try to view app info of a Android system app.

Does not work on my “sony ericsson xperia arc s”. playing “Clash of Clans” and just uninstalled because the option to turn off notifications just is not there. I have the “stop” option but no “show notifications” option is there to be un-ticked.

I don’t think so they can do that. but, there is a chance apps may turn the notification on again when new update is available and you update them.
