Enable iCloud Drive for WhatsApp Daily Backup
iCloud is one of the best storage service feature for every iPhone, iPad and Mac user. With the help of iCloud, we can manage Photos, Contacts, Mails and much more between our devices. Also, with the help of iCloud and iCloud Drive we can back up our favorite applications. So, in order to make a backup of our WhatsApp chats it is important to enable iCloud drive first. Here’s how you can do this.
- At very first, on your iPhone go to Settings.
- Tap on YOUR NAME showing at the top under search.
- Tap on iCloud.
- Scroll and Enable iCloud Drive & WhatsApp under this.
- Now you are ready to make a complete backup of your WhatsApp on iPhone.

Once you are done with this, follow the next part of this method and make a complete backup of your WhatsApp. But before proceeding next please delete extra stuff from your WhatsApp. This will save space for storage and helpful to manage data on free 5GB of iCloud Storage. In case, you have paid for iCloud storage then it’s well and good.
Backup WhatsApp Chats in iCloud on iPhone
The final part of this method is here. Now we are going to back up your chats including photos and videos on iCloud drive. You can use this backup for later use. For example, if your device brick on iOS Update or any damage to your device, this backup is useful for later use. Here’s how you can do this.
- On your iPhone, open WhatsApp.
- From the bottom, hit Settings on your screen.
- Go to Chats showing on your screen.
- Hit Chats Backup.
- Finally, tap Backup Now.
WhatsApp will start creating a backup of your all WhatsApp chat. If you want to backup chats including videos then select the button separately showing on your screen before tapping ‘Backup Now’. Please note that, this will require more space on iCloud drive. So, do this when you have enough space.
Once your backup is complete, you will see Last Backup date and time. Also, you can check the Total Size of backup you will use for later restore. You can also set Auto Backup to Daily, Weekly or monthly.
