What is Windows 10 Developer Mode and How to turn it on?

Windows 10 introduced a new way (Developer Mode) for development in windows 10. Now you don’t have to require a developer license to develop, test or install your apps. You just need to enable the developers mode in windows 10 and you are all set to go.  This configuration option allows developer to test their apps that are developing on live system to make sure they are working proper or not.

If you are still using a Windows 8x device to develop or test your applications with Visual Studio 2013 or Visual Studio 2015, then you still need to get a developer license or register your Windows Phone.

How to Enable Developer Mode in Windows 10

To enable developer mode in Windows 10 first make sure you have latest Windows 10 build installed on your machine. You need Windows 10 build 10122 or greater to enable this mode.

  • Navigate to All Settings from notification panel then click on last option Update and Security and then click on For developers from left panel.
  • Here select the radio button option that says ‘Developer Mode: Install any signed and use advanced development features.’ A new popup message will show simply click on Yes and developer mode is enabled.

Note: If you sideload apps, you should still only install apps from trusted sources. When you install a sideloaded app that has not been certified by the Windows Store, you are agreeing that you have obtained all rights necessary to sideload the app.

Developer mode lets you sideload apps, and also run apps from Visual Studio in debug mode.
