How to Factory Reset Samsung Galaxy S6

If your Samsung Galaxy S6 is not responding to touch and frozen suddenly. This usually happens due to any Android bug, installed apps problem or any hardware issue.   • After few seconds you will be in Android recovery mode, now release the Home and Volume-Up keys as well.
  • To navigate into the recovery mode you can use Volume up and down keys and select an option use Power button. So, press Volume down to navigate to “Wipe data/factory reset” option and press the Power button to select it.
  • Again navigate down and select Yes to start the factory reset process on Galaxy S6.

Once resting process started, stay calm and wait for it to complete the S6 reset process.

How to Enter and Exit Download Mode

Download mode is used to install firmware on your device and given by default in Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. When you install firmware using Samsung Kies, you phone automatically put into this mode. When you want to install any custom firmware then you need to put you phone into download mode manually. Follow these steps to enter or exit download mode.

When you phone is turned off, press and hold Power + Home + Volume-Down buttons simultaneously until you see a blue screen. Now, press the Volume-Up button to get into Download Mode.

Due to any reason if you want to exit from this mode then press and hold Power + Home + Volume-Down + Volume-Up buttons and keep holding until you phone rebooted. You might need to exit from download mode when you stuck into download mode, failed to install firmware or changed your mind.

  • The screen Downloading ... Do not turn off target keep frozen and no way for me to power off now. What should I do? wait till the battery dead and keep my finger cross i can restart or what to do?

    • Did you get your phone fixed? Mine is doing the exact same thing, and I can't figure out what to do about it.

  • It seems you are in download mode, you should try that: press and hold Power button for 10-15 seconds and your galaxy s6 will be forced shutdown.

    • You mean you can't see anything on your mobile screen or just front glass broken but and touch is working fine?

  • I have a blue screen that says "Downloading... Do not turn off target"
    I have held the power button down for 45 seconds and it still will not power off. I have also tried the power/volume combo to get the phone unfrozen. What other options do I have?

  • You must be in Downloading mode and to exit from it you need to press the following button simultaneously POWER + HOME + VOL-UP + VOL-DOWN.

    Keep holding all button and release when you see black screen.

  • Hi o did the power button menu volume down n my phone restarted but now it wont charge at all do I need to do a hard reset? I did an update yesterday is this the problem ? any help be great

  • It's not working for me. It turns off for a second or 2 then the Downloading Do Not Turn off Target screen pops back up. Suggestions?

    • Please make sure you just pressing VolumeUp+Home+Power simultaneously. Your phone seems in the downloading mode which shows you pressing the wrong combination.

  • I am having a samsung galaxy s6 edge, tried to update the phone it run up to 67%, but now it says downloading do not turn off target.I want to resit it to factory default.
