How to Change Author Name of an Existing Word 2010/2007 Document

If you want to change the author name of your Word, Excel, PowerPoint document that you have already created in Office 2010 or 2007 versions, after a jump you find the method to do that.

As an example we will use Word document, but you can use same method to change author name for other Office 2010 or 2007 documents.

Change Author Name in Existing Word 2010 Document

Step 1

Simply open your document and click on “File” tab > “Info”

Step 2

In the right panel of window click on “Properties” > “Show Document Panel”

Step 3

Delete the existing author name and type new name in the field followed by “Author”

Press “CTRL + S” from keyboard to save the change. Now the author name for that specific document is replaced.


Change Author Name in Existing Word 2007 Document

Step 1

Click “Office” button > “Prepare > Properties”

Step 2

It will open the document properties, here just change the “Author” name and save your document to make the change affective

You can also change the document author name by just taking file Properties and change the word file information like author name under Details tab.

For some reason my full name is being placed as an author on all excel files it almost seems like the author name is copied from my username on the network domain. I don’t want my name to be placed as author on all of the files. How do you make a permanent change so that all future excel files are saved with default imaginary author name.
