How to Change Logon and Logoff Sounds in Windows 8

Windows 7 and XP have options to change Logon and Logoff sounds in Control Panel but in Windows 8 those options are hidden. To enable Change Logon and Logoff sounds in Windows 8 here is a guide which let you allow to do that with a registry hack, so continue reading after the break to check out the process.

Change Logon and Logoff Sounds in Windows 8

Step-1

Press “Win” + “R” keys and type regedit into the field available in Run window, and press “Enter” key

Step-2

Registry Editor will get open now in its left panel hierarchy navigate through “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\EventLabels\WindowsLogon

Note: You will find WindowsLogoff folder in the same hierarchy, above on the WindowsLogon, so you can do same changes with that folder to enable it.

Step-3

Find “ExcludeFromCPL” in right panel of Registry Editor screen and double click on it and change its “Value data” to “0” from 1

Step-4

Close Registry Editor, and go through the Control Panel where you will find “Windows Logon” sound option, in Sound section to customize it

this is useless cause windows 8 doesn’t have a logon logoff or shutdown sound only a startup.
