How to Run Windows XP in Windows 8

Windows 7 gives option to run Windows XP mode, and this feature is not included to Windows 8. So if you want to run Windows XP in a virtual machine on Windows 8 then you have to purchase license first to do that. But here is a tip that let you people help to run Windows XP in Windows 8 to work with old XP applications for free.

Use an archive tool to open downloaded WindowsXPMode_en-us.exe file as an archive


Access “sources/xpm” file inside the opened archive and extract that folder to your computer


In “xpm” folder you will find “VirtualXPVHD” file, you have to rename it with VHD extension


Install Virtualbox and open renamed “VirtualXPVHD” file there
