How to Run Windows XP in Windows 8

Windows 7 gives option to run Windows XP mode, and this feature is not included to Windows 8. So if you want to run Windows XP in a virtual machine on Windows 8 then you have to purchase license first to do that. Requirements:

Step-1

Use an archive tool to open downloaded WindowsXPMode_en-us.exe file as an archive

Step-2

Access “sources/xpm” file inside the opened archive and extract that folder to your computer

Step-3

In “xpm” folder you will find “VirtualXPVHD” file, you have to rename it with VHD extension

Step-4

Install Virtualbox and open renamed “VirtualXPVHD” file there
