Restrict User to Change Personalization Settings on Windows 7

Windows 7 allows to restrict changing personalization settings, which is quite useful feature. Suppose your personal computer is also in use of other family members and you want to restrict them from doing changes to background, theme, sounds, desktop, computer configurations etc then guide below will help you, to do that exactly.

Note: Guide below works for Windows 7, XP, Vista and Windows 2000.

Restrict to Change Personalization Settings on Windows 7

Step-1

Login to your Windows 7 computer with administrator account

Step-2

Click on “Start” button and type Group policy or gpedit.msc in search field and then click “Edit group policy” to launch Local Group Policy Editor

Step-3

Navigate to “User Configuration” > “Administrative Templates” > “Control Panel” > “Personalization”

Step-4

In right panel you will find different options which you can adjust as per your requirement. We clicked on “Prevent changing color scheme”

Step-5

Just select “Enabled” radio button and click on “Apply” button and that’s it. Now, no other standard user of your computer can make any change to Color scheme of system

Thanks a lot for sharing this information, now i applied restrictions on my PC so that other users can’t change personal settings.
